What is a Hottie?
Microwave heat packs uniquely designed for safety and to retain heat longer.
Hotties contain plant based material and water. When microwaved, the water heats up.
Because there are no water currents within the heat pack, the transfer of energy from the centre of the heat pack to the edge of your Hottie takes longer. This is why Hottie stays warmer longer.
How do I heat my Hottie?
Refer to the heating instructions on the enclosed safety sheet and on the white Hottie heat pack.
Please note, heating instructions in columns marked 1 and 2 are instructions for heating Hottie from cold (i.e. not recently used or 20°C)

To avoid damaging your Hottie do not exceed recommended heating times.
Many of our customers have two heat packs and simply heat their second heat pack instead of re-heating the recently used heat pack. This helps prevent accidental overheating and damage to your Hottie.
How do I re-heat my Hottie?
To re-heat your Hottie:
- Remove fabric cover if it prevents your Hottie rotating freely in the microwave
- Heat in microwave for 15-seconds
- Check temperature of your Hottie
- Repeat steps 2 & 3 until Hottie is the appropriate temperature for you
Note: Re-heating your Hottie heat pack for longer than recommended time may damage your Hottie.

What Happens if Hottie is Overheated?
If overheated, Hottie will expand.
If this happens, stop microwave and leave Hottie to cool for at least ten minutes.
Hotties are designed to fail-safe in the event of overheating. This means, if overheated for a long period of time, the pouch is designed to split. This may create a “bang” noise, but is an important safety feature that prevents the build up of dangerous pressures and hot spots.
It is possible damage has been done to your Hottie if it expands. Please check your Hottie before re-using.
Please do not re-use popped Hotties.

We have been making Hotties since 1996 and in all that time we have never learned of a Hottie causing injury or exploding violently.
As Hottie contains no toxic gels or seeds, there is no danger of it catching fire or causing burns.
What should I do if I overheat Hottie and it pops?
If you overheat Hottie and it pops, leave in microwave for at least ten minutes before lifting out.

Can I apply Hottie to my skin straight away after heating?
We suggest placing your Hottie on a flat bench and smoothing it out to ensure the heat is even throughout the pack.
Then, hold Hottie to your forearm to check the temperature is right for your skin type and apply.
How long does the warmth last?
Heated correctly, your Hottie will stay warm for up to four hours.
Do Hotties have a use-by date?
Hotties have no use-by date. Many of our customers use the same Hottie for years, even decades.
How long a Hottie lasts is a function of how carefully it is heated. If always heated correctly there is no reason a Hottie should decline.
We urge people to take extra care when re-heating a recently used Hottie as this seems to be when most people accidentally overheat and damage their Hottie. Please see FAQ "How do I re-heat my Hottie?" for further information on re-heating a Hottie.

Why do you say Hotties are safer than other heat packs?
Hottie is not a gel pack. Gel packs are known to explode and cause potentially fatal burns.
Hottie is not a wheat pack. Wheat and other grain filled packs are known to cause fatal fires and burns. This is because the grains within the wheat pack continue to heat up after being removed from the microwave and after several uses the grains dry out. As an added bonus because Hottie contains no grains or seeds it will not mould or rot.
Hottie is not a hot water bottle. Hot water bottles are known to cause burns. This is because of the fiddly design requiring filling with boiling water and also due to rubber bursting or splitting, spilling boiling water onto the user.
Hottie is failsafe.
Hotties have been around since 1996 and in all that time we’ve never heard of any incident where one of our Hotties has caused harm to a user.

The Hottie patented heat pack contains water soaked into a medical grade, plant based non-woven pad. It does not contain wheat, gels or waxes. The liquid inside is water and is completely safe.

My darling scaredy cat loves to do the loaf sitting position on this warmer. It's brilliant, and a third of the price of other cat warmers.It is soft, even when it is cold, so kitty stays comfortable.I bought another brand, that is round like a Frisbee. When it is cold it's like a piece of concrete.Kitty couldn't be happier with her 'Hotties' when my lap is not available.
I was happy with this product but have only had them since November. Heated up as instructions but now one made a loud bang while in the microwave and can’t be used. Came out boiling hot too. Could not put it in my cats bed.
Animal damaged it on day one ☹️
Elderly cat loves this, beats a hot water bottle. Holds the heat for a good few hours. Could do with being a little bigger.
I bought this for my little old cat to keep her warm and comfortable! At 17 she’s suffering from a little arthritis. She sleeps really well with it under her bed and you can see she’s more comfortable!
Good item but would be improved by having a soft, removable ,washable cover.
I use them as a top up for cst beds. To take the edge off the cold. I prefer them to the solid plastic ones.
Only keeps the heat for a couple of hours, did expect to last long than this so I am not sure if it was faulty, did email the supplier but had no response.
My burmese/siamese cat loves this in the winter months when its cold, not all of our house is heated so to know that she has a warm bed makes me (and her) very happy!
Good, stays warm quite a long time
Need to apply heat to my dogs back twice a day as part of his therapy for an abnormal spine. Was struggling with a hot water bottle as too hit and miss, heat-wise. This heats to a good temperature in the microwave and is easier to apply. It's just a bit too big to go in my microwave, which isn't particularly small, but I can fold the cover over at the edge and it just goes in if put at the right angle! Didn't think to check the size when ordering
I bought the Hotties thermal pad that comes in a fleece cover for my old cat. It was OK but needed replacing.Before I bought the same one again I came across the pet version which is a lot better. I think this one will last longer as it looks and feels more robustand my cat likes it.
My lovely Millie is very fond of this, and looks forward to it coming out of the microwave at bedtime, and before we go in the car in winter. She's small and skinny, and has short fur so can get cold easily. It is the perfect size for her to snuggle up on, and not so bulky and wobbly that balancing is a problem.I love that even when she had a good chew at this she didn't damage the cover, and even gave up on chewing it 'cos it gave her no satisfaction. Perfect as she is a monster chewer!I'm not sure it would keep her warm all night, but I always let her in with me after a few hours. It's still warm after about 4 hours, which is all I need, but not sure how long it would keep warm; I guess it would lose heat less fast when snuggled under blankets and warm dog.
It does warm up to a nice level, but doesn't stay warm for as long as I hoped. If my dog lies on top of it in his bed, it keeps its heat, but if he doesn't then it goes cold within a couple of hours.I could probably warm it a bit more, but the warnings on the packaging really put me off doing more.
It worked well until it sprang a leak after just a couple of weeks. Don't buy it unless you have a big enough microwave to let it turn without sticking, and a timer that lets you set the time accurately. A rotary dial is not good enough - you need a digital timer. It is very sensitive to overheating which causes it to swell up. Although this only happened once, and I stopped it immediately, it must have weakened it, hence the leak a week later.
It says it keeps it heat for 10 hours but I haven't found that to be true, it actually goes cold after a couple of hours.
The cover on this heat pad is wipes clean very easy.It heats up very quickly.However it doesn't hold its heat!Total waste of money!
My seventeen year old cat loves her heat pad. She has now given up demanding to have the gas fire turned on. At first I didn't think it was hot enough for her, but when my Kathy lays on it the warmth does come through the small cushion in her bed.
